34. Why do you call Him "our Lord"?

Because not with silver or gold, but with His precious blood, He has redeemed and purchased us, body and soul, from sin and from all the power of the devil, to be His own. 1)


1) Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers; but with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and, without spot. I Peter 1:18,19.

But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvelous light. I Peter 2:9.

For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's. I Cor. 6:20.

Ye are bought with a price; be not ye the servants of men. I Cor. 7:23.

* Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly, that God hath made that same Jesus, whom ye have crucified, both Lord and Christ. Acts 2:36.

* Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works. Titus 2:14.

* In whom we have redemption through his blood, even . the forgiveness of sins. Col. 1:14.
