36. What benefit do you receive from the holy conception and birth of Christ?

That He is our Mediator, 1) and with His innocence and perfect holiness covers, in the sight of God, my sin, wherein I was conceived.2)

1) For verily he took not on him the nature of angels; but he took on him the seed of Abraham. Wherefore in all things it behooved him to be made like unto his brethren, that he might be a merciful and faithful high priest in things pertaining to God, to make reconciliation for the sins of the people. Heb 2:16,17.

2) Blessed is he whose transgression is forgiven, whose sin is covered. Ps. 32:1.

* If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. John 1:9 .
