45. What benefit do we receive from the “resurrection” of Christ?

First, by His resurrection He has overcome death, that He might make us partakers of the righteousness which He has obtained for us by His death. l) Second, by His power we are also now raised up to a new life.2) Third the resurrection of Christ is to us a sure pledge of our blessed resurrection. 3)

1) Yea, and we are found false witnesses of God, because we have testified of God that he raised up Christ: whom he raised not up, if so be that the dead rise not ... And if Christ be not raised, your faith is vain; ye are yet in your sins. So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory. O death, where is thy sting'? O grave. where is thy victory? I Cor. 15:15,17,54-55.

Who was delivered for our offenses, and was raised again for our justification. Rom. 4:25.

B1essed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, to an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you. Who by him do believe in God, that raised him up from the dead, and gave him glory: that your faith and hope might be in God. I Peter 1:3,4,21.

2) Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. Rom. 6:4.

If ye then be risen with Christ. seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth. For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God. When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with him in glory. Col. 3:1-4.

Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace are ye saved.) Eph. 2:5.

3) Now if Christ be preached that he rose from the dead, how say some among you that there is no resurrection of the dead? I Cor. 15:12.

But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you. Rom. 8:11.

* But now is Christ risen from the dead, and become the first-fruits of them that slept. For since by man came death, by man came also the resurrection of the dead. I Cor. 15:20,21.
