51. What does this glory of Christ, our Head, profit us?

First, that by His Holy Spirit He pours out heavenly gifts upon us, His members; 1) then, that by His power He defends and preserves us against all enemies.2)


l ) He that descended is the same also that ascended up far above all heavens, that he might fill all things. And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some. evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; for the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ. Eph. 4:10-12.

2) Thou shall break them with a rod of iron; thou shall dash them in pieces like a potter's vessel. E's. 2:9.

And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father's hand. I and my Father are one. John 10:28-30.

* For he must reign, till he hath put all enemies under his feet. The last enemy that shall be destroyed is death. I Cor. 1 5:25,26.

* Therefore being by the right hand of God exalted. and having received of the Father the promise of the Holy Ghost. he hath shed forth this, which we now see and hear. Acts 2:33.
