57. What comfort do you receive from the "resurrection of the body"?

That not only my soul after this life shall be immediately taken up to Christ its Head, l) but also that this my body, raised by the power of Christ, shall be reunited with my soul, and made like the glorious body of Christ.2)

1) And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, Today shalt thou be with me in paradise. Luke 23:43.

For me to live is Christ, and to die is gain. But if I live in the flesh, this is the fruit of my labor: yet what I shall choose I wot not. For I am in a strait betwixt two, having a desire to depart, and to be with Christ: which is far better. Phil. 1:21-23.

2) For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality. So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, death is swallowed up in victory. I Cor. 15:53,54.

For I know that my redeemer liveth, and that he shall stand at the latter day upon the earth: and though after my skin worms destroy this body, yet in my flesh shall I see God: whom I shall see for myself, and mine eyes shall behold, and not another; though my reins be consumed within me. Job 19:25-27.

Beloved now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is. 1 John 3:2.
